Top Takeaways from KW Family Reunion 2025 | Vol. 140
Last week KW hosted our annual convention, which we call “Family Reunion.” Our training team coordinated 162 breakout sessions delivered by the top performers in our industry. We featured some amazing speakers including Jamie Kern Lima, Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe, Chip Heath, Jay Baer, Sean Cannell, Rory Vaden, and Phil M. Jones on our main stages.
This year I taught during all but one of the breakout blocks, so our AHA’s will focus on the keynotes and guest speakers I was able to see. Here are some of the quotes that stuck with me.
1. Gary Keller
a. “You don’t have to. Thank God you do.” On how our associates give to KW Cares.
b. “It’s not the fault of the real estate if you lose money.”
c. “There’s a difference between pursuing your best life and just pursuing.”
d. “The number one way to overcome fear is to face it.”
e. “In your life, there are periods where effort isn’t what you’re looking for, it’s commitment…Full commitment forces clarity and focus, because commitment blocks out everything else.”
f. “Real, massive success is boring. The number one disease of successful people is the wandering eye.”
2. Jamie Kern Lima
a. “If you’ve ever felt self-doubt, know that you’re not alone. Don’t let self-doubt hinder your destiny. Rise from underestimated to unstoppable. Self-doubt kills more dreams than anything else.”
b. “The quickest way to feel seen is to see someone else.”
c. “Authenticity doesn’t guarantee success. Inauthenticity guarantees failure.”
d. “What has self-doubt already cost you?”
3. Dr. Robyne Hanley-Dafoe
a. “If we’re not careful, our family will get the brunt of our day…We are replaceable in all of our jobs. We have a few sacred relationships where we are irreplaceable.”
b. “It’s gonna be a bad hour. Not a bad day, bad week, or bad year.”
c. “We are not defined by our toughest seasons or our worst mistakes. They are part of the story but not the whole story.”
d. “People who swear live longer.”
e. “If you feel like life feels heavy or hard, it doesn’t mean you’re doing it wrong. It means you have a life.”
f. “Most emotion lives in your body for 90 seconds.” Embrace it and it will pass. Avoid it and it can live in your body for up to 7 years.
g. “We repeat what we don’t repair.”
4. Sean Cannell
a. “Start before you’re ready. Ready is a lie.”
5. Jay Baer
a. “The client experience is the difference between what clients think will happen versus what actually happens.”
b. “Clients today interpret speed as caring and responsiveness as respect.”
c. “Give your clients time and they will give you money.”
d. “Communication creates clients and loses them.”
6. Jason Abrams
a. “2025 is the year of the appointment.”
7. Julia LaShay Israel
a. “If you have something you believe you need to share, take action and do it consistently.”
8. And one from me that several folks commented on.
a. “When you’re clear about what you want, you can appreciate what you have.”
One question to ponder in your thinking time: What’s the ONE Thing I will implement from Family Reunion 2025?
